I love being a part of the dental profession, and in particular, being an orthodontic specialist. It gives me the opportunity to make a significant difference in people’s lives. I see it every day in the smiles of patients when their treatment is complete. In some people it shows as more confidence or self-esteem, while in others it is the fulfillment of something that they always wanted to do. However people react, they always smile more after their treatment is complete.
Education and Continuing Education
I graduated from Millidgeville North High School in 1973 with high honours, and went on to attend Dalhousie University where I studied undergraduate science from 1973 to 1975. I completed my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry in 1979, and practiced as a general dentist for nearly a decade before pursuing my specialty in orthodontics, which I completed at the University of Alberta in 1991.
Every patient presents with unique problems and every treatment is different. I enjoy the challenge of identifying these problems and then designing and delivering the plan that will best address that individual patient’s needs. In order to facilitate this level of customized care, it is essential for me to continue my education to stay abreast of the newest in orthodontic technology and treatment options. Continuing education also provides an opportunity to interact and share knowledge and experiences with my colleagues in the orthodontic profession.

Outside the Office
I was born and raised in Saint John and moved back to the city after the completion of my graduate orthodontic training in 1991. It has been a great pleasure to live, work, and raise a family in this wonderful community. My wife Susan and I have three grown children, one dog, and one cat.
